Hi everyone! I’ve been having so much creating mixed media backgrounds for cardmaking. I have 4 fun backgrounds that I wanted share with you, complete with all of the supplies and colors that I used. I’m still fairly new to the world of mixed media, but I love that there aren’t any rules and no one can tell if or where you made a mistake 😜
I want to give a shout out to the fabulous Tiffany Solorio. I believe these color combinations (or at least a good portion of them) have been heavily inspired by her. She has color combination guides that I absolutely LOVE!

For this first background, I started with a grungier color set, sticking with more earth tones:
- Ranger Ink Distress Sprays
- Old Paper
- Speckled Egg
- Iced Spruce
- Old Paper Oxide (splatters)
- Gathered Twigs Oxide (splatters)
- Stamp
- Elizabeth Craft Designs CS364 – Textures
- Stamped with Distress Ink Ground Espresso
- Stencil
- Tim Holtz Mini Set 5 – Bubble
- Applied Ranger Ink Crackle Paste through the stencil
- Used Distress Spray as watercolor and painted the crackle paste (once dried)
- Speckled Egg
- Iced Spruce
- Splatter
- Gina Wakley Glossy Spray – White
- Distress Spray Walnut Stain
- Distressed Edge (not in picture)
- Walnut Stain around the edges
- Use the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser tool

- I love the bold colors of this background and the grungy numbers stamp is perfect for this technique:
- Clear Embossing (you could also use white or a color)
- Tim Holtz Faded Type
- Versamark Water Mark Ink Pad
- Ranger Embossing Powder – Clear
- Ranger Ink Distress Spray
- Peacock Feathers
- Seedless Preserves
- Dusty Concord
- Gathered Twigs
- Stencil
- Tim Holtz – Flourish
- The Crafter’s Workshop – Stencil Butter in Champagne Gold
- Stamp
- Elizabeth Craft Designs CS344 – Pluses & More
- Lawn Fawn Premium Dye Ink Pad – Black Licorice
- Splatter
- Gina Wakley Glossy Spray – White

- I had to make at least 1 bright and colorful rainbow background. I love how happy this background is.
- I used the Elizabeth Craft Design CS344 Pluses & More with Tim Holtz Archival Ink in Black Soot to stamp the color names
- Clear embossing (you could also use white)
- Versamark Water Mark Ink Pad
- Elizabeth Craft Designs CS348 Butterflies & Swirls to add the beautiful scripty text
- Ranger Embossing Powder – Clear
- Ranger Ink Distress Sprays
- Saltwater Taffy
- Antique Linen
- Tumbled Glass
- Weathered Wood

- I just love the grunginess and texture that this background has with those earthy tones
- Ranger Ink Distress Spray
- Antique Linen
- Speckled Egg
- Pumice Stone
- Elizabeth Craft Designs CS208 Frosty Patterns with Walnut Stain
- Added brick texture
- Lawn Fawn Brick Stencil
- Ranger Ink Opaque Texture Paste (White)
